2004 Universal Diesel Engine – only 600 hours w / Autopilot

Designed as a high performance, off shore, racing/cruiser.
Still One of the BEST for today!!!

The updated 2004 Universal 20HP Diesel engine drives a 12 x 8 propeller through a 1″stainless steel shaft. Located off-center to eliminate torque, the engine is set in the forward endof the main cabin to concentrate its weight (together with fuel and water tanks) over the centerof ballast and reduce pitching moment. Because the engine is mounted on top of the leadballast, it is remarkably quiet, free from vibration, and readily accessible.

Current Owner’s Message

Classic Sparkman & Stephens Tartan 30.  She is set up to sail single handed with safety and ease. Her reliable diesel engine has never let us down.  All the upholstery has recently been redone and her hull painted.  The wood is in great shape throughout.  “Ripple” is a great boat for long weekends, sleeping aboard trips.  We have enjoyed traveling to Cape Lookout NC, Wilmington NC, Charelston SC, Annapolis MD and more…
